The
Reflection of His Glory
Wade E Taylor
“I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall
continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1
Continual worship is maintaining within us an attitude and
atmosphere for worship – our lives consecrated with
the totality of our being entering into the harmony of heaven
in praise and worship.
“They look to Him and were lightened: and their faces
were not ashamed.” Psalm 34:5
No matter what my circumstances may be, if I will turn away
from the “weight” of that which is negative and
produces discouragement, and look to the Lord with thanksgiving
- to that which is positive and creative, I will be “lightened,”
or lifted into the realm of the Spirit where peace and joy
will flow into my being.
Our being “lightened” has to do with our being
able to recognize and respond to His presence. We are living
in the time when the glory of the Lord is being released to
those who will climb the mountain of separation with Him.
“For who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock,
save our God?” II Samuel 22:32
“He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defence;
I shall not be moved.” Psalm 62:6
When Jesus asked His disciples who He was, Simon responded
and said that He was the Messiah.
“And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you,
Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood has not revealed it to
you, but My Father which is in heaven. And I say also to you,
That you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church;
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Matthew 16:17-18
“Peter” means “a small stone.” Jesus
is saying that He is the Rock, and that He only does those
things that He hears from His Father. Now, Peter has become
a small stone; that is, he is now of the same substance as
Jesus, as he has heard from the Father (by revelation, not
by observation) that Jesus is the Messiah.
Then Jesus gave the “keys of the Kingdom” to
Peter.
“And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven: and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound
in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be
loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19
These “keys” are the ability to hear from the
Father, and then move in obedience to what has been heard.
“You also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual
house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices,
acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” I Peter 2:5
Our being a “lively stone” speaks of our becoming
as a radioactive stone. That is, we transmit (broadcast) the
very life of God (His Glory) to all who come close to us.
We need to better understand and appropriate this ability
to impart.
“Arise, shine; for your light is come, and the glory
of the Lord is risen upon you.” Isaiah 60:1
Charles Finney both revealed and reflected the glory of the
Lord during his life. Wherever he went, people began to repent.
He left a trail of visitation because he transmitted, as being
a “lively stone,” the Glory of God, which resulted
in repentance wherever he went.
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass
the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from
glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
II Corinthians 3:18
This “glass” is a mirror. Thus, when we see the
glory, in the reflection of it, we see ourselves and will
be brought to repentance. A true visitation from the Lord
will humble us greatly.
Isaiah truly repented when he came into the presence of the
Glory of the Lord.
“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord
sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled
the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six
wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered
his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another,
and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole
earth is full of His glory. And the posts of the door moved
at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with
smoke.
“Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I
am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people
of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord
of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims to me, having a live
coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off
the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this
has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and
your sin purged.” Isaiah 6:1-7
Some have said, “We need to repent so we can have His
Glory restored to us.” Rather, we need the “Glory”
so we can truly repent.
There is an urgent need today for those, who as Charles Finney,
have stood in the presence of the Glory of the Lord, and are
bringing the Body of Christ into true repentance.
“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness,
has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have
this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the
power may be of God, and not of us.” II Corinthians
4:6-7
