The Glory
Jerry Hyde
In the Holy of Holies, doors were placed in front of the
veil because men fear God’s glory. There is a tendency
for us to love the anointing, the delivering power of God,
His benefits and the oil that flows. But, when the glory comes,
the Lord does not have many friends. We fear because it threatens
our self-life. No matter how awesome God is, no manifestation
of Him should cause us to run and hide. If He comes as consuming
fire, we should want that.
The Lord is disappointed when we turn away from Him, because
“He is the glory.” When Moses saw the glory, he
saw the goodness of God.
He is preparing this generation for the glory of God. Isaiah
saw the house filled with smoke. When the glory comes, judgment
will also come.
Isaiah 6:5-6 says, “Woe is me! for …I am a man
of unclean lips … for my eyes have seen the King, the
Lord of Hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims to me, having
a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs
from the altar.”
I don’t believe Isaiah was profane, but his speech
was “natural.” Even our religious jargon is unclean
as we go on with God. This generation will cry out for more.
Hearing the voice of God in this hour is conditional upon
our vocabulary. Allow God to convict you of uncleanness of
speech. When Isaiah’s lips were touched, his ears opened
up, and he heard God speaking to Himself, “Who will
go for us?”
There are very few “prepared to hear” that call.
He would ask you, “Will you hear My voice and respond,
‘Here am I, send me’”?
Isaiah was not “commissioned” into this calling.
He heard a voice, and he “volunteered.” Then he
was commissioned to speak to a people who would not hear,
understand, or perceive.
God is saying, “Just because things don’t appear
to be progressing doesn’t mean you don’t have
the Word of the Lord. Success in My eyes might be failure
in the eyes of man.”
Yet God says, “In the midst of this people whose eyes
are dim and ears heavy, there will be a people who will hear.”
The whole earth will not get the message. Why do you think
the Church is in such a state of chaos? Does this means God
is not in control? Has He lost His throne?
No. God would never dare to let it go this far if He weren’t
in control. He’d have intervened a long time ago. There
must be heresies among us so that those things which are true
might be made manifest. God has chosen to set us in an environment
full of chaos and misunderstanding, so that we will come out
of it hungry for God with our eyes on Him.
When we seek the glory, we’ll find that God will cause
activity that we have never, ever imagined! We’re going
into another age. There is a millennial reign on the horizon!
All prophecy will converge upon this generation. You are being
prepared for that. The coming age is the age of the Glory
of God, the reign of Christ.
When we pursue the glory of God, the Scriptures come alive.
There is a realm of worship we have never imagined. There
is a release of understanding of the ways and heart of God
that we have never yet touched. Worship causes the Lord to
unveil His heart, the doorposts move, the veil opens up, and
you see the glory of God.
When we surrender our lives, we experience crushings. Some
of you will go through hard things, not because God has neglected
you, but because He wants to release worship. Crushing gives
us the opportunity to worship and surrender to Him. Anytime
we see the Lord, it is because He has taken a sovereign, personal
initiative to unveil Himself to us.
The glory is increasing today, but it is not outwardly visible
because it is behind the veil of our lives. That’s only
temporary. God will take off the veil, and this time there
will be a full view of the glory of God on His people.
