A Set
Apart Place for Prayer
Linda Seres
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when
you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is
in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret
will reward you openly.” Matt 6:6.
In Old Testament times, those who sought the Lord built altars
at which to pray; and the Lord came and met with them at these
separated, dedicated places of prayer.
At this present time, the Lord is telling us that we also
are to have a set-apart place for prayer, into which we retire
to have communion alone with Him.
The Consecrated Closet
I go within my closet,
Pushing past the clutter of the day
To a special compartment,
Pressing beyond all that’s in the way
In this tiny sanctuary,
I meet a Friend who waits for me,
In expectation for my prayer.
A place where two hearts will receive
A blessed time of communion,
Holy is this abode in its disguise.
Divine is this closet,
Consecrated for its size.
Closely drawn together, we meet
In blessed times of refreshment,
Knowing He hears and cares.
The reward far greater than its size.
If you have not experienced the heart satisfaction and fulfillment
that results from meeting the Lord, in a place set-apart within
your home, you are missing one of deepest joys of being a
Christian.
There is no better time to begin, than today.
