The
Set of our Spirit
Wade E. Taylor
"For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I
will not be disgraced; therefore I have SET
MY FACE like a flint, and I know that I will
not be ashamed" Isa 50:7.
"He endureth the cross for the joy that was SET
BEFORE HIM" Hebrews 12:2.
Just as the Lord determinedly set the course of His life
toward the cross, we also are to direct our steps toward His
present day purpose and calling for us.
Rev 2:17 speaks of hidden manna - truth not yet revealed
to us, but available to those who have certain overcoming
qualities in their lives.
Many theorize about the program of God for the end time,
but all too few walk with the Lord in present revelation.
Through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, the written Word
will become a vibrant living Word, having relevant meaning
for our day and time.
I Chron 12:32 speaks of a company of men "who had understanding
of the times, to know what Israel ought to do." This
speaks of prophetic maturity. Only as we maintain spiritual
sensitivity and walk with the Lord in expectancy, will we
come to understand His present day purpose and direction for
our lives.
Prayerfully consider Heb 9:28b.
"Unto them that look for Him shall He appear."
The book of Revelation is not a revelation about Jesus, but
rather, it is a revelation of Him as the head of a corporate
body which greatly affects the earth and all that are upon
it. Only as our vision is singularly set upon the Lord will
we begin to understand the Word concerning the closing out
of the Church age, and establishing of the Millennial age
to come.
There lies between the closing of one dispensation and the
opening of another a short period of time which partakes of
the powers and methods of both, and is especially filled with
activity. We are now in such a period, the closing of the
times of the Gentiles, and the Millennial Kingdom age which
is about to open.
The Lord is bringing about progressive changes in the ways
that He reveals Himself to us, in this, the time of His Parousia.
He is seeking to bring to us a greater understanding of Himself
and of His government. Only those who walk with the Lord with
enlightened eyes and ears will understand the unfolding of
this new day.
Many of the Lord's people are still looking back to that
which is already known and established, and are not looking
up, seeking to go further. The Apostle Paul had a profound
revelation of the Lord, but he also knew there was much more,
toward which He was pressing.
"Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected;
but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which
Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended;
but
one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind
and reaching forth to those things which are ahead, I
PRESS TOWARDS THE GOAL for the prize of the upward call
of God in Christ Jesus" Phil 3:12-14.
At the end of the messages to the seven churches, is a word
from the Lord to each one of us.
"After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened
in
heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were
of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither,
and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter"
Rev 4:1.
May we both hear and respond to this call.
