His Calling

"And He goeth up into a mountain, and calleth
unto Him whom He would: and they came unto
Him. And He ordained twelve, that they should
be with Him, and that He might send them
forth" Mark 3:13-14.
In the above Scripture, the one thought that stands out is
that our Lord is calling a people to Himself. Those who are
truly hearing and yielding to His call are being molded by
His hand and shaped into a vessel for His pleasure and purpose.
The purpose may differ between one person and another, but
regardless of this, the call of the Lord has not changed;
He calls us unto Himself.
Some may be used to seeing and hearing of how the Gospel
of the Kingdom is being proclaimed around the world through
preaching, healing the sick, and deliverance of the oppressed.
Those who minister in this way are seen and known by man,
yet their primary calling is to maintain their communion with
the Lord. As they are faithful to this, He will continue to
anoint and sustain them, for He is more acquainted with the
needs of the world than we, and He understands the pain and
agony with which all humans wrestle in their hearts and souls.
Others may be brought into His presence to share in the fellowship
of His sufferings, being intimately alone with Him, and thus
remaining hidden and unknown to man. These exercise their
spiritual authority in the secret place and not before humanity.
There is a tremendous need in the Church today for those who
will accept this high calling.
But whether we are called to the nations to be with Him,
or to a place of aloneness to be with Him, one thing remains
the same. Much preparation is needed, which is not without
cost. Rather, it is expensive, as it requires that we unconditionally
submit our everything and all to Him. In our calling to be
with Him, keeping even a portion of our life for ourselves
will ultimately disqualify us from the high calling He desires
for us, whatever its nature may be.
Our Lord will not be satisfied until we choose Him and Him
alone. He desires us to be effective, no matter what form
our ministry may take. This effectiveness comes only as we
respond to His call and are at rest, and satisfied above all
to be with Him.
He calls us to Himself that He might send us forth. The choice
is His. He knows the times and the seasons. He knows what
is best for His Kingdom at any given moment. Time is short,
but the hand of our God is not shortened.
Are you ready to trust the Lord today with your whole life?
Will you allow Him to prepare you to be all that He desires?
It is eternally important that today we hear His voice, and
respond to Him with all preconceived thoughts and ideas washed
away by His love, as He draws us to Himself.
