The Set of our Spirit
Wade E. Taylor
"For the Lord GOD will help Me; therefore shall I
not be confounded: therefore have I set My face
like a flint, and I know that I shall not be
ashamed" Isa 50:7.
"Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our
faith, who for the joy that was set before Him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set
down at the right hand of the Throne of God" Heb 12:2.
As the Lord set His face as a flint toward the cross, so
also, we are exhorted to set the gaze of our soul toward His
purpose for our lives.
Paul testified,
"Not as though I had already attained, either were
already perfect, but I follow after, if that I may
apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of
Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended, but this one thing I do, forgetting
those things which are behind, and reaching forth
unto those things which are before, I PRESS TOWARD
THE MARK for the prize of the high calling of God
in Christ Jesus" Phil 3:12-14.
We have not exhausted the mysteries that are given to us
to know within the Word of God, which will progressively unfold
to us as we seek to apprehend that for which He apprehended
us.
"He answered and said unto them, Because it is given
unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of
heaven, but to them it is not given" Matt 13:11.
Rev 2:17 speaks of hidden manna, truth not yet revealed to
us, but available to those who attain to certain overcoming
qualities in their life experience.
Many theorize about the program of God for the end time,
but few WALK WITH HIM IN A PRESENT DAILY UNFOLDING OF THE
WORD. Through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, the Word
is to become vibrant and living, having relevant meaning for
our day and time.
I Chron 12:32 speaks of men "who had understanding of
the times, to know what Israel ought to do." Only as
we walk with the Lord in expectancy will we understand His
purpose and direction for our lives.
"So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many.
And unto them that look for Him shall He appear the
second time without sin unto salvation" Heb 9:28.
The book of Revelation is not a revelation about Him, but
rather it is a revelation of the corporate Christ; He the
head and we, a part of His many membered Body. Only as our
vision is singularly and clearly set upon Him will we comprehend
this and allow Him to prepare us for our part with Him in
this new day that is before us.
That the Lord might progressively bring us into a greater
understanding of His end time purposes, He is about to more
openly reveal Himself to us. It is important that we walk
with Him with an enlightened eye, that we might rightly respond
to His coming to us for this purpose.
We must look upward and onward, or else we will be blinded
to the present working of the Lord in our midst. Many are
resting in that which is already established, unwilling to
"go forth therefore unto Him without the camp, bearing
His reproach" (Heb 13:13).
That we are living in a time of transition is indicated in
many Scriptures.
"After two days will He revive us, in
the third day He will raise us up, and we
shall live in His sight" Hosea 6:2
"And the Lord said unto Moses, Go unto the people,
and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let
them wash their clothes. And be ready by the
third day. For the third day the Lord will come
down in the sight of all the people upon Mount
Sinai" Exodus 19:10-11.
"And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that
fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures
today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall
be perfected" Luke 13:32
"And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James,
and John his brother, and bringeth them up into
a high mountain apart. And was transfigured
before them" Matt 17:1-2a.
Two thousand years (two days) of Grace are almost behind
us. The third day is just before us. The Lord is presently
preparing a people who will be forerunners of this new day.
There are those who are beginning to hear what the Lord is
saying, and they are moving with Him as they are quickened
by the Holy Spirit.
If you feel the inner tug of the Holy Spirit to take you
further, and the intense work of the enemy attempting to hinder,
His hand is indeed upon you for this new day. Listen to what
the Spirit is saying, then set your face as a flint, and begin
to walk with Him toward this new day.
