The Brooding of the
Holy Spirit
Wade E Taylor
Just as a mother hen sits upon the egg that contains the
hope of a new generation, so also the Holy Spirit "broods"
upon His people, seeking to birth the overcomer into a "witness"
of who He is, and what He can do in this critical hour before
the closing out of this age.
"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit
with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame,
and am set down with my Father in His throne.
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art
worthy to take the book, and to open the seals
thereof: for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed
us to God by thy blood out of every kindred,
and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast
made us unto our God kings and priests: and
we shall reign on the earth" Rev 3:21;5:9-10.
The world is seeing all that the enemy of God and of our
redemption, can do. They are about to see a witness, or a
foretaste of what our Lord is able to do, and will do in the
Millennial age that is before us.
As many increasingly express their anger through violence
and irrational acts, the Lord compassionately feels this frustration
and offers hope to a world which is groaning for a redemption
they do not understand. They protest and search, yet will
not come to the One who offers life more abundantly.
Therefore, the Lord is moving upon those through whom He
intends to reveal the hope of a new day, a birthing of that
which will affect the problem at its root. The answer is to
be found within the travail of the Holy Spirit for the Body
of Christ, for there is no answer apart from the Lord. As
the Church responds, the Lord will begin to move afresh in
power, that lives might be delivered and changed.
The Lord is doing a deep work within His people to prepare
them to stand and become an effective witness in this difficult
and trying day. We are being enlarged so that which is within
us will become a demonstration of the life which the Lord
seeks to offer to the world.
As we lift our spirits and seek only that which is from above,
all else will find its proper adjustment. This is essential
if we are to overcome in this trying and difficult hour.
The Lord does not change, and is present to meet us and our
need. As we open wide our hearts door, He will move upon us
in visitation that His presence may flow out through us to
those who are hurting.
May we ever pray, "Lord, reach down in a mighty deliverance
that will release Your presence within my life. Enable me
to enter into Your courts with thanksgiving and praise. Grant
the quickening that will change and bring me into an alignment
with Your highest purpose. May there flow out from my life
a worship that will lift up and exalt Your Name, and a thankfulness
for all You are doing in and through my life.
Lord, help us to recognize Your hand upon our lives and respond
to Your desire to birth us into that which is beyond our own
problems and needs, that you alone may be seen and known."
