Food for Thought
After Six Days
Wade E Taylor
"And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James,
and John his brother, and bringeth them up into
an high mountain apart, And was transfigured
before them: and his face did shine as the sun,
and his raiment was white as the light. And,
behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias
talking with him" Matt 17:1-3.
There were twelve disciples, but Jesus took only Peter, James,
and John (three within the twelve) up into the mount apart.
Here, He was transfigured before them in radiant glory, and
Moses and Elijah appeared with Him.
According to our text, this transfiguration occurred "after
six days." The context does not indicate six days from
when. Thus, it might be said that this word is prophetic,
referring to the end of the 6th day, just before the Millennial
day, the 7th day.
Calendar and prophetic time are not necessarily the same,
but there is a relationship. For this reason, all the second-coming
predictions have failed. (Wade
is referring to predictions that Jesus
would return in the year 2000
because “It was the end of 6000 years [The six days
of creation being a millennia or a thousand years each] –
I heard all this nonsense in the 1970’s and never subscribed
to these vain imaginations of men.{Editor Note}All these hundreds
and hundreds of predictions of Christ's 2nd coming have failed
because all these men are false prophets and speak out of
their own souls) In prophetic time, or God's
timetable, from Adam to Abraham was two days. From Abraham
to John the Baptist was another two prophetic days. And from
Jesus to our day is almost two days. Thus, the end of the
6th day is at hand.
Moses and Elijah each had a unique ministry that greatly
affected the Lord's people of their day. The fact that they
appeared with Jesus at the time of His transfiguration speaks
of a last-day ministry during which the Lord will appear in
His glory to a people within a people (three within twelve)
for a special purpose.
While on earth, Moses was uniquely prepared (wilderness)
by the Lord to deliver His people, Israel, who were in bondage
to the world system of that day. Because the straw for the
bricks they were forced to make had been taken from them,
they had to provide their own without diminishing the number
of bricks made. Making bricks without straw relates to our
day. This can be interpreted as inflation - money without
gold backing and thus of little value.
This provoked them to cry out to the Lord for deliverance.
The Lord heard their cry and they were promised a land that
flowed with milk and honey. Through the ministry of Moses,
Israel was delivered from "commercial bondage" and
brought into Canaan which was to be a Theocratic Kingdom.
Elijah also was uniquely used by the Lord to deliver the
Lord's people from a bondage of another kind; "religious
bondage." In that day, the prophets of Baal were in control.
The Lord told Elijah that the time had come for the people
to make up their mind as to whom they would serve - the false
religious system of that day, or the Lord of Hosts. Thus,
the contest as to who really was Lord. The Lord answered by
fire, and as a result, the prophets of Baal were slain and
Israel was set free to truly worship and serve the Lord alone.
Moses delivered the Lord's people from a false economy. Elijah
delivered them from a false religious system. These two ministries
represent a total deliverance. It appears that we are in the
preparation stages to receive a double portion; comparable
ministries that will release the Church from its bondage into
its place of provision and glory.
As we approach the end of the sixth day, an evident work
of preparation is taking place within many. These are being
set free from an outward form of religious service and are
being birthed into a true spirituality. The Lord is at work,
stripping away the past dead religious works, and releasing
a flow of new wine and oil whereby these are enabled to move
under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit into the
end time purposes of the Lord.
This can best be expressed by saying, "These are being
birthed." Yet the birth channel is awfully dark, and
we cannot yet relate to that into which we are being projected.
We are approaching the Millennial day in which there is coming
a mighty deliverance from the religious bondages of our day.
Therefore, it is of primary importance that we hear and obey
all that He is saying to us, no matter how dark it may appear
at this present time.
