The Charismatic visitation has run its course. It has failed to bring the spiritual utopia that was envisioned at its height. Many who held this hope have turned to political involvement, in part because of their disappointment in not finding any lasting results through the outworking of this visitation of the Holy Spirit.

Somehow, it became known as a visitation of the "Baptism in the Holy Spirit and tongues." John the Baptist, the forerunner who announced Jesus, said of Him: "He ... whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you in the Holy Ghost and in fire" Matt 3:11b.

Herein is the cause of failure. That which was to come forth as a consuming fire to burn away all dross was lost in seeking, and in emphasizing the gift of tongues, stopping short of the fire. Therefore, the dross remained to destroy the movement.

There must yet come a visitation of the Holy Spirit and fire, which will burn until it consumes all carnality, and brings into evident view the Lord of Glory for all to behold and kneel before, proclaiming Him Lord of their lives.

It is my intense desire to have this Holy Ghost fire burning within my life and ministry, and that Pinecrest will be purged and refined until it is prepared to become a vehicle of this visitation of fire. I greatly desire Pinecrest to have a part in this coming outpouring of the Holy Spirit and Fire.
