Who Is Your Ark?
Bernice Mercier
In Genesis Chapter 6, we see that Noah was faithful to God’s
command and built an ark. He probably did not know what an
“ark” was or what “rain” was, but
he obeyed the Lord’s instructions step-by-step. His
obedience to God ensured that the lives of his family were
saved.
We, just as Noah, need to be faithful to obey the Lord. When
He instructs us to pray, to intercede, to bring our loved
ones before the Lord Jesus, we need to be obedient. In daily
prayer, we must bring and place each member into God’s
ark. The hand of God is never too small to hold within its
hollow ALL and everyone we could ever bring!
The ark is Jesus Christ. By TRUSTING and ABIDING IN HIM,
we shall overcome circumstances and temptations met in everyday
living. When situations change or people disappoint us, we
will not be overwhelmed. By being IN CHRIST (the ark of God)
we shall stand firmly and be at peace.
The troubles that come into our lives can serve to help us.
That seems impossible to believe! Yet it’s true. Picture
yourself safely held within the ark and then picture waters
of adversity descending. What happens? As the flood waters
deepen, the pressure causes the ark to RISE ABOVE the surface
of the water. As the ark rises, so do we! In reality, as pressures
mount in our lives, we, being IN JESUS, shall rise above and
overcome as well. Our families will see a valid, living, exciting
Lord working His will in us and giving us strength.
The key is staying IN THE ARK (in relationship with the Father)
at all costs. Then with boldness we will say, “Let the
floods come, let the rains pour, for I am safe in a covenant
place with my Creator.” In this way, we will overcome
difficulties and rise above our troubles and circumstances,
just as Noah and his family did. In knowing the Lord Jesus
Christ and waking close by Him with yielded hearts, we will
be prepared to face whatever is to come.
If anything other than Jesus Christ is the object of our
dependence, it shall surely fail. Friends, worldly goods,
neighbors or family cannot take His place, so let us face
the future with confidence and stand firmly IN THE ARK, hidden
IN HIM.
“He will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble;
He will conceal me under the cover of his tent, He will set
me high upon a rock.” Psalm 27:5 (NASV)
That’s a promise!
