The Vision of Pinecrest
Wade Taylor
President of Pinecrest
A word to all who give in support of this ministry.
On the morning of July 4th, 1959, I was traveling toward
the city of Philadelphia to find a place to live and begin
a pioneer church. The Lord spoke to me while I was on the
road that I was to go north to Pinecrest to attend a conference
being held there by the Italian Assemblies of God.
I arrived at Pinecrest late that evening and after getting
settled, found an empty classroom and began to seek the Lord
as to His reason for sending me there. As I prayed, the Lord
clearly showed me that He would allow me to go to Philadelphia
and pastor a church there, but that His purpose was for me
to come to Pinecrest.
I accepted this word from the Lord and came to Pinecrest
in August of 1959 as a student in a new school that was to
open that fall, under the Italian Assemblies of God.
In October of that year, while alone praying, I was, as it
were, caught up into the Glory of the Lord. My eyes were opened
and I saw His visible glory. He spoke to me out of the Glory,
telling me that He had brought me here to train a people to
intimately know Him and His ways, and to know and respond
to His manifest presence, and moving of His Spirit.
I at first thought this would be accomplished in the school
that was there at that time. However, after three years of
operation, the school closed.
Some years later, in a very direct and unusual way, the Lord
caused me to return to Pinecrest and the word I had received
back in 1959 began to be a reality. Pinecrest Bible Training
center opened in the fall of 1968 with a desire to see the
call and purpose of our Lord fulfilled. Over the 12 years
we have been here, we have seen the Lord change lives in wonderful
ways and many go forth with a vision and ministry according
to the pattern the Lord had given.
