The Unveiling of Himself
to Us
An Anchor of the Soul
Harry Finn
Within the veil is the unseen eternal reality of the heavenly
world. Revelation means the unveiling of something hidden,
giving light and knowledge to those who behold it. Christianity
itself is the revelation of a mystery (Rom. 16:25). The participation
of the Gentiles in the privileges of the New Covenant was
made know by revelation (Eph. 3:3). Paul received the Gospel
which he preached by revelation (Gal. 1:12). He went up to
Jerusalem by revelation (Gal. 2:2). “The night is far
spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works
of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light” (Romans
13:12).
In 1 Thess. 5:1-3, the brethren have not presented themselves
in the right manner for the Lord to unveil Himself to them.
In verse 4 we find an enlightened people. He turned to them
and said, “But ye, brethren are not in darkness that
the day should overtake you as a thief, you are the children
of the light and not of darkness. But let us, who are of the
day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love;
and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.” In the Greek
language, there are three words for “son.” “My
little children (nepios), these things I write unto you, I
write unto you young men (teknon). I write unto you, fathers
(huios)” (I John 1:1, 13-14). Here He is dealing with
three realms or dimensions. This is the entrance which He
has inaugurated; buy a new and living way, a progression through
the realms of the little children (nepios), young men (teknon)
and fathers (huios). Oh, that we may give ourselves that He
would unveil Himself to us. “For a great door and effectual
is opened unto me and there are many adversaries” (I
Cor. 16:9). This great and effectual door that is opened to
us is entered into within the veil (Heb. 6:19-20).
“We who fled for refuge for the purpose of laying hold
of the hope which is set before us, as an anchor of the soul
both stable and stedfast and which anchor enters into the
place within the veil” (Heb 6:9, Wuest Trans). Note,
there is no place to let down the anchor this side of the
veil. He will reveal Himself and bring us into His kingdom.
“An entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly
into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus
Christ” (2 Peter 1:11).
When we go through the great and effectual door and through
the veil, we are being inaugurated into the kingdom of God.
Let us look at Ephesians 2:19-20. It is a graduated, progressive
inauguration into the kingdom. Note verse 21, “In whom
all the building fitly framed together, growth unto a holy
temple in the Lord.” “Holy temple” means
Holy of Holies, that we must go beyond the veil. Yet another
step is in verse 22—“IN whom ye also are builded
together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”
This is the only place in the Word that speaks of “habitation”
as being the fullness, or perfect state, or as a mature permanent
dwelling place. It is to bring all things within His divine
economy.
“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness:
I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.”
Psalm 17:15
“We know that when He shall appear, we shall be like
Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath
this hope in him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.”
I John 3:2-3
Oh that we might know Him!
